Veteran Congress chief from Indapur and former Cooperation Minister of Maharashtra Harshavardhan Patil joined the BJP on Wednesday.
Indapur is situated between Pune and Baramati, the stronghold of NCP chief Sharad Pawar.
Patil, who was elected as an MLA for the primary time in 1995, has held many essential portfolios within the earlier Congress governments. His bastion Indapur is a significant agriculture hub with a protracted affiliation with the Maratha empire.
